About the event
The Judicial Academy will serve as a mechanism to help increase diversity within the judiciary. VHFCNBA’s primary mission for nearly 70 years has been to provide education and increased opportunities for Black lawyers in the State of Florida. Black Americans make up approximately 16% of the population in Florida; however, Black judges make up only 5% of the Florida judiciary. The academy will provide practical knowledge to members of VHFCNBA who aspire to be a member of the judiciary.
The Academy will begin on October 19, 2023 at 6:30 PM, and will consist of six sessions . Five of the sessions will take place virtually and one session will take place in person. The in-person session will take place in conjunction with VHFCNBA’s Second Quarterly Meeting and the Latimer/Hawkins Judicial Council's Annual Meeting on Friday, November 17, 2023 in Orlando. Sessions three through six will take place monthly in 2024, beginning in January.
